Medical or Osteopathic School Phase

Based on available funding, MRPSP applicants who have been admitted to or currently attending medical or osteopathic school will be considered for scholarships valued up to $30,000 per year. Strong preference is given to students attending the University of Mississippi's School of Medicine. Scholarship recipients will be selected from current medical students and college seniors who have been admitted to medical school prior to the April 1 application deadline.

On July 28, 2009 seventeen UMMC School of Medicine students were awarded state funded scholarships valued at $30,000 for 2009-2010. Each of these students embrace their small town values and culture, sharing a common passion for making a difference through missionary zeal or maverick determination. The challenge of fully funding renewable scholarships for fifteen slots each year remains.

Mississippi House of Representatives Appropriations Chairman Johnny Stringer presents Anna Hailey Sharp her $30,000 scholarship for the 2009-2010 year at UMMC.
